What is Phishing?
Phishing is any attempt to steal information from you by someone pretending to be a trusted person or brand. We continuously work to avoid malicious attempts by third parties who use our brand name without our approval to conduct illegal activities. Please beware of Eloan scams, people posing as Eloan employees via calls, emails and text messages. For example, an email asking for your account number pretending to be from Eloan, when in fact it is a scam, a person using the Eloan branding fraudulently.
Eloan is not currently offering new personal loans, therefore we would not contact a person with an offer for a loan at this moment. Furthermore, we will never ask for any confidential information, money or gift cards in exchange for approval for a loan.
Quick tips to identify whether you have received a suspicious email:
• If you receive an email claiming to be from Eloan or SST, make sure the sender’s address has an alorica.com domain. Phishing emails are becoming more sophisticated and difficult to distinguish from legitimate emails.
• Eloan or SST will never send you an email stating that you are pre-approved or pre-qualified for a loan. Delete or report any emails with this copy.
• Eloan or SST will never ask you for payment or any value item in exchange for a loan. For example, you will never be asked to send gift cards, account transfers, payments via PayPal or Venmo.
How do you report phishing activity? Here’s how:
• Contact us directly here.
• Forward phishing emails to spam@uce.gov. Your report is most effective when you include the full email header, but most email programs hide this information.
• File a report with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov/complaint
• Visit Identitytheft.gov. Victims of phishing could become victims of identity theft; there are steps you can take to minimize your risk.
• Report phishing email to reportphishing@apwg.org. The Anti-Phishing Working Group – which includes ISPs, security vendors, financial institutions and law enforcement agencies – uses these reports to fight phishing.
